A response to a challenge set by Problogger writter Darren Rowse on his Twitter tips blog. (I tweet here, BTW).
It’s from my other blog where I write proper articles, reviews, etc. Essentially things that require a bit more thought than pictures of cats.

Quite funny in the gentle, quaint way The Now Show often is. But learned a good fact: apparently, there are 3 types of people on these pirate ships:
Ex-fishermen, who act as the brains of the outfit.
Ex-militiamen, who of course act as the brawn.
Techies, who operate the GPS equipment and presumably do clever hacking stuff against the computers of the pirates’ victims.
I’ve...

At the tail end of a piece about the death (or otherwise) of music TV on the Sentric Music blog, Mr Pursehouse says:
In a blog post in the not too distant future I’m going to pose some questions to some real life A&R people and maybe a couple of other industry professionals to give you guys a look into the murky minds of the music industry. So this is your chance to ask that question that...

If you get any gift vouchers for Christmas this year, spend them quickly. With Woolworths on the brink of bankruptcy here in the UK, and Macy’s with (apparently) $9.8 billion debt in the US, who’s to say that the store will still be around by the time you decide to spend your vouchers? I’m not one to baulk every time something vaguely frivolous makes the news agenda - I was fascinated by Sachsgate - but really, surely there is something more interesting/important/entertaining going on in the world than a bloody big fireworks display for rich ex-pats in the UAE?
BBC…public service broadcaster…not give undue prominence to commercial enterprises…*ahem*.
What do they all have in common?
Sachsgate, the John Sargeant thing and even, more seriously, the BNP members list leak.
They’ve all been enabled, catalysed and spread by the Internet. We’ve reached a tipping point in the democratisation of media and communication power. Be it through complaining, voting or publishing.

A proper offline guide to Twitter made out of dead trees could help it achieve mainstream popularity. But, in the words of Strutting, it could instead “probably choke on its own webcock”.
(NB. webcock = “term used to describe online-marketing, web-strategy, killer-startup cheerleaders”.)

Many thanks!
Cheers to Riaz for sorting me out with a beta invitation to new music streaming service Spotify. Music fan and web geek that I am, I’ve been after one for a while so it’s much appreciated :-)
