When I was 11 and it was all over the news that there was this 13 year old genius who’d been admitted to Oxford University, I really wished I was that clever and special and that everyone thought I was as full of potential.  I was very jealous. Now…not so much.  This is what pushy parents do to you.

WatchWatch
The hardest Mario Bros. level ever 23 minutes long with funny commentary.  But I’ll give you one word: insane.

Last.fm ‘Average Age Calculator’ →
aatw says:  The Average Age Calculator is a simple script that calculates the average age of any Last.fm user’s ‘neighbours’ (people who listen to similar music) or fans of any artist. The average age of my neighbours is 21. I’m 19.  toldorknown says: I suspect this is more a function of the average last.fm user’s age than anything else. The average age of my neighbors is also 21....

Watch out for this - it’d be a shame if Facebook became as rife with these as Myspace.

Ruhi says: Why doesn’t Google documents work with Safari? With all the Google love oozing out of Apple, I thought that everything Google would be on! I know what you mean…there are a couple of funny Google/Apple incompatibilities that have annoyed me recently. Although I must ask: why do you use Safari as your first-choice browser?  As much as I love most things Apple, I’ve always...

Leona Lewis has become the first British woman to top the US pop chart in more than 20 years with her single Bleeding Love. I’m not really a fan of LL (although Bleeding Love is a cool tune), but this is great news for British music.

Looking for an interesting, not-too-heavy, not-too-US-centric podcast on business and economics.  Any ideas, clever Tumblr folks?

"Do no evil"?
Rep. Chris Smith argues that search engines who censor content in other countries (as Google are doing) are acting much like he believes IBM did during the Holocaust.

Saul Williams
A recent fave artist of mine after his Trent Reznor produced Niggy Tardust album, I loved Williams’ shambolic-but-great acoustic set in the SxSW conference centre late this afternoon. His a capella poetry was amazing too. Hope to catch the full live show later tonight.

SxSW - Day 1: observations
If you don’t like nachos in Austin, you’re gonna go hungry. Wondering round the convention centre at the mo - I love arriving at things like this, it’s all quite exciting.  First task: figure out how much free stuff I can blag, and from where…

Marco: Since Starbucks make mediocre coffee, they need to resort to gimmicky drinks [like the Honey Latte]. […]  I don’t think anyone in charge of designing or constructing this drink has ever had honey. Or a latte. Beyond all my kneejerk lefty politics, another reason for me to hate the coffee chain.  Nice work Marco - consuming poor quality hot drinks so we don’t have to.
