From the Google blog:
1. Focus on people—their lives, their work, their dreams. 2. Every millisecond counts. 3. Simplicity is powerful. 4. Engage beginners and attract experts. 5. Dare to innovate. 6. Design for the world. 7. Plan for today’s and tomorrow’s business. 8. Delight the eye without distracting the mind. 9. Be worthy of people’s trust. 10. Add a human touch.
Ben says:
You know what makes me sick? People paying for gifts on Facebook. It’s a fucking image, you’re spending a dollar on a fucking image, that you can see without spending a dollar.
But isn’t it a brilliant “product” from a business point of view…very few production costs, no variable costs, no inventory to keep, no marketing costs. And then the ability to lease...
Instrumental music
asprettyasasong says: If any of you know of some pleasant instrumental music I can loop for an hour-long movie I made for graduation, please please please let me know. I’m on a time crunch and I don’t have time to search for something appropriate. Come on, I know you have the perfect song for me to use!
This sort of question can provide me with hours of fun! If you’re looking for...
I want a bright yellow coffin, one that says something about me. One brown box...
– A lady in a great BBC article about the trend for decorated coffins. I think I’d quite like a flamboyantly-coloured casket. And check out the picture of a coffin painted to look like a tram!
Life Lessons
rickyv says: There’s a big difference between telling a girl “You’re pretty” and telling the same girl “You’re pretty and don’t let anybody ever tell you otherwise.”You’ve gotta elaborate on how that lesson was learned! ;-)

– Steve Jobs (via fascinated)
I’ve blogged a few Steve Jobs quotes recently. I don’t know whether it’s sad or inspiring that perhaps one of the greatest thinkers of our time isn’t a writer or world leader, but a guy who makes computers for a living.
We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that...

WHO THE HELL KNEW THIS?! I can’t believe:
a) that such a law exists in 2008, and
b) that there isn’t NATIONAL OUTRAGE over the fact.
Nay, make that international. The article later states there are similar laws in the USA, Canada, most of Europe etc.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life

I love when I meet with entrepreneurs and during the meeting someone says, “Imagine if you could [insert new idea here]”
Those four words warm my heart.

merlin: An astonishing number of “pro blogs” are basically factory pâté farms. So don’t count on the farmer to tell you when you’re full.
Very true. And the thing is, a successful pro-blog very often operates in a narrow niche. And a niche, by definition, is pretty small. So there’s only so much new stuff you can write on a blog that deals in a niche topic until you start to repeat...
