Merlin recommends →
Just really enjoyed the new podcast by Merlin Mann and Dan Benjamin. At the end of the show, Mr Mann reeled off a quick list of some of his current favourite blogs, saying he’d have to dedicate a full show to the subject in future.
I’ve got a lot of time for what Merlin has to say, so I took his recommendations seriously - I’ve subscribed to all of these blogs in Google Reader,...
Strawberry generation →
From the Best of Wikipedia Tumblr:
Strawberry generation is a Chinese language neologism for Taiwanese people born between 1981 and 1991 who “bruise easily” like strawberries — meaning they can’t withstand social pressure or work hard like their parents’ generation; the term refers to people who are insubordinate, spoiled, selfish, arrogant, and sluggish in work. "Self-assessment tax returns: a rant" →
On the off chance any other UK folks are spending this afternoon filling out their tax return online, they may find some of these usability faults with HMRC’s self-assessment web app to be useful. I had to figure out two of them myself as I went along, and it was only by finding this blog post that I was able to figure out the Secret Character-Limit Final Boss.
Really boring thing to link...
http://neversaidaboutrestaurantwebsites.tumblr.com →
The “how to make a less horrible website” section speaks THE TRUTH. A restaurant website hosted on Tumblr/Posterous/Wordpress probably won’t win any awards for beauty or innovation, but customers will love being able to find opening hours easily on even the oldest web-enabled Symbian phone.
Anyone else using FitFu on iPhone?
I’m JonathanDeamer over there. Maybe if we’re digital/imaginary “friends” in the form of a database entry on a business’s server it’ll help us both pretend our yearly resolution to exercise more might be less futile this time round than on previous attempts.

Futurism
I predict 2011 will be the year the inevitable finally happens and I don’t realise I’ve picked up the can of shaving foam instead of under-arm anti-perspirant until it’s too late.
