New release from Fran Healey-endorsed label that discovered The Wombats (Myspace)
I’ve written before about LIPA (the college I went to) and the LIPA Records compilations curated by Fran Healey of Travis and, erm…Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, so thought I’d blog a quick note about the label’s latest release. Their first selection featured then-little-known The Wombats, donchaknow? But don’t hold that against them :-p
This year LIPA Records is doing its own thing - sans the celebrity backing - with a release called “Shuffle.Play.Repeat”. It features some of my friends (one of whom’s band I used to manage). Some of them had a songwriting masterclass with Paul McCartney the other day. I can’t write songs, but I was still a bit jealous.
