Mogwai cover The Pixies
I love Mogwai. And I love The Pixies. (As do most people with any sense/taste.) So you’d think I’d love the Scots’ cover of Gouge Away.
I’m disappointed to say it’s a bit rubbish. There’s none of the melodious charm of the original, and none of the beautiful racket that normally makes Mogwai so great. It sounds like a lacklustre garage band to tell the truth.
Still though, the idea of British Sea Power doing a version of Caribou on the same Pixies tribute album is still quite exciting.
