BBC: drinking coffee 'will not sober you up' when drunk
“People who have consumed both alcohol and caffeine may feel awake and competent enough to handle potentially-harmful situations”.
I’m sure there’s probably some Bad Science, “this research is nonsense” critique to be made here, but my main thought was that they’ve missed the point by focusing on coffee. Surely this indicates that highly-caffeinated alcoholic drinks, like the popular vodka-and-Red-Bull combo, are more potentially dangerous than other alcoholic drinks?
I don’t know whether my suggestion is scientifically true or not - it’s only my own logic that’s bought me to this conclusion - but if nothing else it’s a better journalistic angle!
