Brilliant. There’s a big story in it about how “television” might one day be as popular as radio, but won’t be much good for watching sport. Here are some of the best bits:
“Most people who know anything about it say that television is the coming thing; it will be as usual to have a television set as it is now to have an ordinary radio.
Shall we be able to watch the big Soccer matches at home when that day comes? More important, shall we want to?
….
After all, television has its limitations, one of the most important being that the picture is very small - usually eight inches by six inches, sometimes (not very often) twelve inches by ten inches.
You do not get much of a Soccer picture at that size, and as the cameras are usually a long way from the pitch, the pictures generally look like running dots.
Besides all that, there is not so much fun in watching a match at home. Yelling at a television set is a poor business at best.”
