Listening to Radio 4 comedy sketch about the Somali pirates

Quite funny in the gentle, quaint way The Now Show often is.  But learned a good fact: apparently, there are 3 types of people on these pirate ships:

  • Ex-fishermen, who act as the brains of the outfit.
  • Ex-militiamen, who of course act as the brawn.
  • Techies, who operate the GPS equipment and presumably do clever hacking stuff against the computers of the pirates’ victims.

I’ve always fancied an exciting swashbuckling life on the sea.  I of course am nowhere near masculine or manually-skilled enough for the first two roles.  But I’m sure if I learned a bit about wireless networky type stuff, I could do a great job of the third one.  Seriously considering running away with Captain Hook et al.  And if they need someone to find embarrassing Facebook photos with which to blackmail the victims, or they need some digital marketing done via social networks (quite possibly for music and entertainment brands), I’d be just the man.
