Do click through to read the full post.  I agree completely (even/especially with the point that catering to edge cases like us isn’t really a business model).

Only a small proportion of local news content is of interest to me (don’t care about football, don’t have children in schools, spend most of my time in the city centre etc.), but on those occassions there is something I like, I’m happy to pay something (somehow) to make sure that those infrequent-but-important articles continue to be written.
